Never Rush Your Reading Again: Auto-Renewals Are Coming to Kingston Libraries!

Great news, Kingston bookworms! If you’ve ever found yourself rushing to the library or frantically logging onto your computer to renew a book before it becomes overdue, you can officially take a deep breath.
Starting 15th June, Kingston Libraries are introducing auto-renewals!
You will no longer need to manually renew your books on the day they are due. Instead, if you need a little extra time to finish that gripping thriller or final chapter, the library system will take care of it for you automatically.
The Fine Print: Rules & Exceptions
While this is incredibly convenient, there are a few important exceptions to keep in mind so you don’t get caught out:
- Active Requests: If another borrower has reserved the item you have, it will not auto-renew.
- Board Games: These are strictly non-renewable, so make sure your game nights fit within the original loan period.
- Hire Charge Items: If you’ve borrowed an item that carries a hire charge, an auto-renewal will generate an additional fee on your account.
- Renewals cap at 10: Items will automatically renew a maximum of 10 times. After that, it’s time to bring them back to the shelves.
Remember: It is still ultimately the borrower’s responsibility to check that items have been successfully renewed.
