CYP: Bookstart

 

Kingston Libraries works in partnership with the Booktrust charity to ensure that every child receives a free book of their own, together with support for early language and literacy at key stages of their Early Years development.  

 

Bookstart Baby Bags.

Bookstart Baby packs are handed out to all new parents when they register their baby at Kingston Register Office.  For any families that miss out we also hand out Bookstart Baby packs at the library for children aged 0 - 18 months or you may also be able to get one from your health visitor at your child’s developmental check-up.

 

Bookstart Treasure Packs.

Bookstart Treasure bags are gifted to all three-year olds in a school nursery school setting at some point during the school year.  For those who don’t attend a school nursery Treasure packs are available for three year-olds at all library branches on request. 

 

Bookstart Dual Language Resources.

We hold a small number of board books and Early Years picture books in English plus an additional language.  If you would like these instead of your regular Bookstart bag, please contact the your branch with the language you would like, the age of your child and the library that you would like to collect it from.

 

We also hand out Bookstart resources at our library Rhyme Times, on request.
